The country knows Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder by his wife Soonam, and now Bollywood is all set to produce a movie. Raja (28) had traveled to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam (24) shortly after their wedding in May. He was reported missing before his mutilated body was found on June 2nd, 2025, in a George near the East Khasi Hills district. Police investigated the case, and Sonam, her lover, Raj Kushwaha, along with eight people, were arrested for the murder of Raja.
Filmmaker SP Nimbawat is producing a film based on the murder of Indore-based Businessman Raja Raghuvansh. The project is confirmed, and the film is in production, months after the crime sent waves through the country.

The filmmaker, who is also known for helming Kabbadi (2018), has confirmed that he has obtained consent from the Raja’s family. He further told the name of the movie, which is, of course, tentative. The title of the movie could be “Honeymoon in Shillong”.
Speaking to the media, he said:
“Dil mein dard to sabhi ke tha; this is one of the biggest subject in recent times, and if not me someone else would have made the film.”

The family of Raja Raghuvanshi has earlier shown their willingness to present the story of their brother on the big screen. They also want to present the correct image of Meghalaya through the film. The brothers of Raja’s, Sachin and Vipin, told the media channel, PTI:
“We believe that if we do not bring the story of [our] brother’s murder on the big screen, people will not know who was right.”

Meanwhile, SP Nimbawat says, the film’s broader storyline is ready and, “We are now bringing scriptwriters and hope to begin shooting later this year, after locking the script and cast. Eighty percent will be shot in Indore and the remaining in Shillong.”
